Derwentwater from Kings How Framed Print

Kings How in Borrowdale

I have admired Kings How in the Centre of the Borrowdale Valley for many years, never however I have climbed up it. Kings How looks imposing. A sheer cliff edge of Rock with a hairline of Silver Birch Trees. Well today I was determined to walk up Kings How and take in the wonderful views it offers both up and down the Borrowdale Valley. I don’t have any Framed Prints form Kings How so today was a chance to add some new images to my range of framed Lake District Prints.

I didn’t make any images from the walk up, focusing on my breathing and staying upright, it was very wet and slippery, also there isn’t much of a view heading up as there are trees everywhere restricting the view. There is a wonderful view over Derwentwater form higher up on Kings How. Here’s my first image, great to see patches of light on the Landscape too, it’s all looking great for now.

Continuing up Kings How you are rewarded with a wonderful view in both directions. This is the view looking South featuring the high fell of Great End and Scafell Pike. As you can see form the image below its a bit flat in terms of lighting…

However, as you can see on the image below I was treated to a few moments of wonderful light breaking through the clouds, it really makes all the difference when the Landscape is illuminated like this. A beautiful moment to witness and a privilege to capture.

If you follow my Landscape Photography you’ll know I am a huge fan of Portrait orientation Landscapes. Leaving the Summit of Kings How I made my way along the summit ridge to make more images featuring Derwentwater below. Click on the images to see a larger view.
