Skelwith in the Mist

Misty Fellside Landscape Photography Shoot

If you follow my blog you’ll remember my previous visits to Park Fell at Skelwith Fold and my delight to stumble across a collection of trees on the Fellside.

Having shot these trees in the daylight it was my intention to return in more atmospheric conditions and see what I can capture. That day is today.

The weather today has been pretty awful in the most part. Extremely wet and I did return home soaked to the skin. However, in the midst of all that I found a brief few moments of wonderful Mist that allowed me to capture what I originally saw a few weeks ago.

As I become absorbed into this scene my thoughts on images and composition changed. The addition of mist really changes what you know about a scene. I thoroughly enjoyed this half hour or so and came away with new ideas for what I consider to be even stronger images than I could have imagined. I was, unfortunately too late to capture those as the mist didn’t hang around long enough, or more likely I didn’t work fast enough.

Ironically I didn’t manage to replicate the composition I previously made, however, I have found a new one equally as strong that I’ll return to at my next opportunity.

Here’s how I got on today. As always all of these Misty Lake District landscape photographs are available as archive quality framed prints. Please contact me for details.
