Hodge Close Quarry has been a regular location of mine this year. More so in the Summer and Autumn and rightly so, it’s a beautiful location and one a little different to the scenes of natural beauty we enjoy here in the Lake District. Hodge Close is rugged, industrial and vast. There is so much to explore here and as last years post shows patience is a virtue when trying to capture it at its best.
I’ve been visiting Hodge Close since I was at school in Kendal and I abseiled down the main Quarry. These days I’m happy to just admire the scene from behind my camera.
Here’s what I captured on my last visit of 2015 to the amazing Hodge Close Quarry.

A scene I’ve photographed countless times at all times of day and throughout the seasons, I love this view.

The Contrast between the Autumnal yellow and orange of the Silver Birch and the Lakeland Slate really appeals to me.

The Langdale Pikes waking up to a misty start to the day.

Heaps of shattered slate and the beauty of Silver Birch.

Spot the telegraph pole…

The old quarry hut hidden with an explosion of Autumn colours.

Back to the main Quarry and several compositions of my favourite image from Hodge Close.

I love the contrast and colour palette of this scene.

I’m very pleased with these images.

That’s it from Hodge Close for 2015. Its been a great year. I’m sure I’ll be back soon enough. In the meantime if you’d like to purchase any of my Hodge Close Quarry Photographs as prints to enjoy at home you can find a selection here.
