Following on from our First Trip to Scotland this time we were better prepared to get to Skye and took the time to have our first Child free break since having Thomas in 2005. We drove up from Kendal, staying over the first night at Cameron House on the shore of Loch Lomond.

The famous Black Rock Cottage on Glencoe. As seen on many a shortbread tin.

Buchaille Etive Mor, not as clear as on my first visit but still a magnificent sight.

The Three Sisters of Glencoe still in Winter colours.

A fine monument overlooking the Ben Nevis Range.

Eilean Donan Castle.

My first visit to Elgol. This place is one of the reason why Skye is so attractive to me as a Landscape Photographer. It has what must be the finest view of the Cuillin Hills over Loch Scavaig. The Alps in miniature.

Click on the images above and below to have a virtual look around this great location.

It’s pretty tough walking over these pebbles and boulders, good shoes are a must.

There they are, probably the finest collection of mountains in the UK.

Check out this virtual look around of this fine view.

Recee mission over, now onwards to the apartment to return another day at the right time.

Skye has some great cliffs as seen in these two shots. I think this is Kilt Rock close to Staffin.

Neist Point Lighthouse on the far Western Tip of Skye is a site to behold. Shame we didn’t get better weather, but that’s the way it goes. I know for next time and I’m sure I’ll be back here again.

The Old Man of Storr on the Eastern side of the Island, again a popular location for sightseers and photographers. This was a morning walk just up from our apartment following what turned out to be one of the best Seafood meals we’ve ever had in Portree the night before.

Warning signs below the steep ascent to the Old Man of Storr.

This is as good as it gets at this time of day. An early morning visit would be required to get the best light I feel.

Back to Elgol that evening in hope of a good end to a wonderful day and trip.

Lovely warming light on the rocks as the sun sets over the Cuillin Hills.

My first real taste of seascapes. A great experience, but watch out for the spray.

The sky just kept on getting better.

I could have stayed here for days taking great shots, only it’s a race against time as the sun sets.

A fitting end to a wonderful place and a great break. Back home now to resume being full time parents.

The ferry from Armadale on Skye to Mallaig on the mainland.

Stopping off at Glenfinnan on the way home. No sign of Hogwarts.

Can’t resist another stop off on Glencoe to try again at Buchaille Etive Mor.

Some of these prints are available to buy in the Gallery as high quality prints.

A great second trip to Scotland. I’m sure I’ll be back again next year. You can see a collection of my photos available as high quality Landscape Prints in my Isle of Skye Gallery.
