Borrowdale Wander

In my new attempts to spend more time in the Borrowdale Valley I’m hoping to cover the area from Rosthwaite back up to Dalt Quarry below Grange where I have previously explored. See here. Here’s what caught my eye on a Landscape Photography Walk in Borrowdale.

The River Derwent that flows through the bottom of The Borrowdale Valley is, in places lined with Oak Trees and I am certain this location will provide for some interesting Autumnal scenes. There was no sign of any inspiring light today but you never know and building my knowledge of this area for the future is worthwhile as is just being outside and where better to be…

Traditional Lakeland Homes and Farms at Rosthwaite.

To Health, Peace and Contentment.

Heading out of Rosthwaite towards Castle Crag, the kids will love these Stepping Stones.

A great view down the River Derwent. A little more Autumnal colour would make for a great scene here.

The only others I saw here today.

No sign of anyone

Things look to be getting interesting from here on as the Trees line the River.

A beautiful crystal clear green pool in the River below a well positioned Oak Tree.

On the Stone Bank looking down River.

A nicely shaped Oak

In the thick of it down here. I’m well off the path.

Borrowdale Jungle.

Gaining some height reveals the openness of the Borrowdale Valley.

Back on the main path now. Time to go as energy is running low and there’s a good walk back yet. Here’s the entrance to an interesting looking cave. Again the kids will love this, I’ll have to bring them back here over Half Term next week.

A quick visit to Surprise View on my way home. Still no sign of any light breaking through today….

The Islands have changed colour since my previous visit.

You can see my collection of Lake District Landscape Prints from The Borrowdale Valley here in my gallery.
