It’s about 10 weeks now since I came back from the Lake District. 10 weeks sine I’ve been out anywhere other than Crosby Beach for my Daily permitted exercise. I am really grateful for this place. I guess I’m luck to have something so close to home where I can walk, breathe and exercise my creative desires.
For years I neglected the beach photographically as I felt I’d shot it, no need to keep going back. But this last year with the lockdowns has made me rethink the possibilities and right now I’m really enjoying my daily walks to the beach. The anticipation of what might be.
I’m finding the images I’m shooting need to be varied so I’m now looking to challenge my existing thoughts and compositions with this place and capture more of it in different ways. Obviously the weather is one huge variable that can make or break what might be considered a successful image but I think we learn more as photographers on the days that aren’t amazing light where pretty much anyone can make a nice looking image. I feel my knowledge of this place is getting a lot stringer, my tastes are becoming more refined and so when I do get that great weather I know what I like and how to shoot it with the added ingredient of wonderful light.
