I headed out tonight with a plan to try and capture the last of the days light on the side of the Langdale Pikes from Side Pike. It’s a viewpoint I’ve visited many times before and captured various scenes from, in fact my latest book Capture Lakeland Volume 2 showcases one such image. I find it quite an important part of my photography to have some kind of idea of what I’m hoping to capture. I find it brings clarity and purpose to my time out and gives me something to aim for. Tonight however my plans were scuppered when the road at the foot of the climb to Side Pike was closed off. I didn’t have enough time to walk up having already left it quite late. So I managed to take a couple of images from the roadside at a much lower perspective than I’d of hoped.
I often find when things dont go to plan it’s still a good use of time. Just witnessing what happens and how the light paints the Lakeland Fells. So while I came home with something different to what I was hoping I still see this evening as a success. I mean there are a lot worse a places you can spend a Thursday evening right…
