As a frustrated Fell Walker I was pleased to have a walk up Loughrigg Fell today. My first fell walk since October 2014. Since the start of the year I have been working on a Graded Exercise Therapy plan as part of my recovery from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and so far this year I have walked on the flat locally. Today was a test to see how I manage with inclines.

Heading up through Fishgarths Wood to Loughrigg.

After what seemed like a long uphill trek we eventually reach this magnificent viewpoint over Windermere, inspiration indeed to carry on.

Windermere with Low Wood Bay on the left.

A little higher up.

Taking a well earned rest on this bench we find a Geo Cache where Lewis writes in the notebook…

…while Thomas takes a rest and soaks in the views.

Concentrating on his writing.

Good Boy. The Brasso is to polish the plaque on the bench which is dedicated to the treasure box owners Grandad.

Thomas and Lewis.

As we ascend the views open up over Windermere and Ambleside comes into view on the left.
Lewis scrambling up the rocks to reach the highest point first.

Proud of himself.

A great achievement for Lewis, his enthusiasm is inspiring.

Looking back over Loughrigg and towards the Langdale Pikes, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags.

Windermere with Waterhead below left.

Ambleside.

The Fairfield Horseshoe above Rydal Hall. Fells this high seem such a million miles away for my ability these days. Hopefully one day i will be able to experience them again with my recovery effort.

A well positioned Stile that makes great foreground interest for Landscape Photography from Loughrigg. Golden hour would be stunning up here.

A wider perspective.

Wider still. Beautiful.

Lewis finding his own vantage point.

Sunrise from here would be magnificent.

A real wide vista showing Fairfield horseshoe, Ambleside and Windermere.

Drystone walls leading to the Fairfield Horseshoe.

A closer look at the Fairfield Horseshoe. One day….
You can see a selection of my Landscape Photography Prints from Loughrigg and the surrounding area here in my gallery.
