I was hoping to make it to Derwentwater this evening but unfortunately I had to change my plans. Having been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) following a bad case of Glandular Fever which hospitalised me in June 2013 has severely limited the things I can do both physically and mentally these days. A state of almost permanent exhaustion and Brain Fog makes general day to day living difficult let alone exerting myself physically and mentally with creative tasks. Luckily for me my Photography is something I can pick up and put down so to speak whenever I am feeling able.
On this particular occasion and serving as a cruel reminder that I have to take it easy and not push myself too far even on recreational activities such as my photography. Gone are the days where I could work 12-15 hours day after day and produce my best work when pushed and under pressure. These days I move at a different pace, a different level, but I am still moving forward. I tried not moving and it lead to a whole new world of pain, psychological pain and misery. I have to do this. I can’t and won’t just sit and rest. I have to have something and that something is this. My Landscape Photography. It fulfils every creative desire within me and rewards me with the outcome of my efforts. Satisfaction of knowing I’ve captured an aesthetically pleasing image.
With the CFS in mind and my desire to document my endeavours I typically wrote on this blog, however I’ve found it hard recently to keep up to date and produce content worthy of sharing, its taken me almost 3 months to write this. I rarely have the energy to string this all together. So I decided I’m gong to video the event in the hope of then not having to spend more time thinking and typing.
So here is my first ever Lake District Landscape behind the scenes video. It’s a bit of an accident and the first time I’ve ever done anything like this, however my desire has never waived from Photography and my passion for the Lake District Landscape is still strong, so I’m trying this new medium in the hope it saves me time and energy going forward.
I’ve set up a YouTube Channel where you can see my latest shoots and subscribe to my channel for updates.

A short walk down to Thirlmere.

A low water level again this year.

The landscape that is usually underwater.

Deer Garth How Island. Or Lewis Island as it is affectionally know to me.

The water level is low but not as low as last year.
