Hodge Close Evening Shoot

I was in two minds whether or not to go out this evening. Having family visiting all day I was worn out by the middle of the afternoon. I got a text from Colin S Bell asking if I was heading out and if I’d like to meet up. Colin was over by Hodge Close so I decided to go for it as it isn’t far from me.

Traffic…

With a face like that you can forgive anything…

I met up with Colin who has taken some beautiful images from here recently. We had a short walk up to the highest point of the Quarry.

A Lone Silver Birch taken with the Canon 5DSR and Zeiss Otus 55mm.

Look at the detail in this crop from the image above. I’m a total geek when it comes to this sort of stuff.

….One more step and that would be it….

To think I abseiled down here in Outdoor Education at school seems impossible now. It’s amazingly high up here.

I may have said before in a previous post that there is so much photographic interest around this area and the more I visit here the more I find.

Granted there is the amazing sight over the quarry but more than that there are interesting details everywhere.

My Canon 5DSR with a Canon 100-400mm lens ad wireless trigger.

Life on the edge.

Amazing Roots. A HDR image from the Leica Q.

There’s a good shot to be had somewhere with these roots…

I wasn’t all that comfortable on the edge.

I love this huge wall of Slate. I remember seeing it for the first time as a child. My eyes couldn’t take it. The scale of the place is Awesome.

This is Colin’s Tree and as such I’ll leave his composition to him. I’ll borrow this branch for my shot though.

Over the far side of the Quarry.

Colin’s Nikon.

Laid Back.

To think how many hours, years and generations of people worked here to support the local and wider economy is as big as the hole they left.

Looking back on the highest point of the Quarry where the previous images were taken.

Colin.

With the light fading from the Quarry I decided to pay a visit to my favourite Tree round these parts.

Glad I did, it looks great with the pink sky.

Taken with the Canon 5DS R and 24mm TS-E Lens.

All 6’6″ of my mate Colin S Bell. S being for Supersize.
