In my continued efforts to spend more time in the North of the Lake District today was another Derwentwater Autumn Landscape Photography day.
As I mentioned in a previous post I am determined to make some new images from the Borrowdale Valley and around the southern end of Derwetnwater. With Autumn truly taking hold in parts of the Lake District I am hopeful that the more time I spend in this beautiful valley the better my chances of capturing the beauty and mood of the place which is loved by so many. Wainwright loved Borrowdale and its easy to see why. Maybe Ive been too naive in my previous shoots to simply pass through this place in order to get to other locations. For now though I am here and ready so hopefully I will capture some inspirational landscapes from Borrowdale that stick with me for many years as a positive reminder of my new found love for this beautiful valley.

Visitors to the viewpoint on Latrigg illuminated by a huge rainbow, Skiddaw dominating the background.

A wider view of Latrigg and Skiddaw.

It always pays to look behind you when taking Landscape Photographs and this is a perfect example. While the Rainbow gabs my attention this beautiful scene of the Helvellyn Range quietly unfolds behind me.

The Jaws of Borrowdale over Derwentwater as the suns rays break through.

A short walk around Calfclose Bay to the viewpoint over Derwentwater.

The Keswick Launch makes its way across Derwentwater.

Still very green on the Fells in Borrowdale.

Cause Pike over St Herbert’s Island on Derwentwater.

Looking north towards Skiddaw and Keswick.

A rather moody scene as the rays illuminate the Fells over Derwentwater.

Fast changing light makes for different scenes every few minutes.

Thank you Derwentwater. It has been a great start to my Autumn adventures.

A quick visit to Buttermere and the beautiful St James’ Church, such a great setting.
