After investing in my Hasselbland 503cx earlier in 2018 I quickly became quite attached to the look this camera produces. Well mainly the lens and the combination of film. Portra 400 has been my favourite to date. So when Hasselblad announced the VX Adapter for the Hasselblad X1D I placed an order immediately as I would love the opportunity to shoot with this amazing 80mm f2.8 Carl Zeiss lens on my X1D.
Currently I have the 30, 45 and 90mm lens for my X1D, these are all above F3.5 so the addition of an F2.8 lens may allow me to capture more interesting portraits given the Bokeh effect offered by a larger aperture lens. I don’t mind manually focusing lenses as my love for Leica has given me the patience to work on that.
So here’s a quick image I shot of my youngest son Lewis on my Hasselblad X1D with the Hasselblad Carl Zeiss 80mm F2.8 CF lens using the Hasselblad VX adapter with an aim of capturing some nice Bokeh. The image is extremely sharp which shows testament to the amazing engineering of this old Hasselblad CF Lens.

Well done Hasselblad.
