Honister Pass Shoot

Over the past year or so I’ve been returning to the Honister Pass between Borrowdale and Buttermere to take Landscape Photographs of this inspiring part of the Lake District. I’ve mentioned before it’s typically a place I simply pass through to get elsewhere but since I started investing time hanging around here with my camera I’ve grown to really appreciate this place. Particularly this small section of stream and one particular section of it on the ascent up the Honister Pass at the Borrowdale end.

There’s something quite rewarding about returning to a place over and over again. Like with my Thirlmere series a few years back it’s interesting to see how things change and how different light can give a place a totally different feel.

Today I visited the stream and also around the Honister Slate Mine and lower down into the valley of boulders below. It was a great afternoon and one full of the visual stimulation us Landscape Photographers crave. Here’s how I got on.
