Penny Rock Woods Morning Shoot

Ever since that epiphany moment 2 years ago back in 2012 I am a big fan of Woodlands in the morning. Especially Penny Rock Woods. Part of me still hasn’t forgotten the pain I felt that morning, missing out on capturing some of the best scenes I’d witnessed in the Lake District for a long long while, perhaps ever. That’s the thing with Landscape Photography, it’s you against the conditions, the weather, the location and yourself. It’s not about anyone else. We aren’t born to compete, we’re born to create. I probably read that somewhere. I wanted to create something as special as what I witnessed back in 2012 almost 2 years ago to the day.

Here’s how it panned out.

The exact same location I saw the two Roe Deer. Still a fond memory.

With not much Mist in the Woods I decided to walk down to the small river that connects Grasmere to Rydal Water.

It’s as good to practise rather than not shoot.

You can see my current range of prints from around Rydal and Grasmere here.
