Recently I was heading towards Langdale to attempt a panoramic shot overlooking the Langdale Pikes. My previous walk up Lingmoor Fell just over a year earlier inspired me to attempt to capture Sunrise here. The shot below was the scene I was greeted with as I walked to the spot I had in mind.

All setup and in place and this was the scene below, what a difference 5 minutes can make.

I took various shots as I stood in hope of a break in the cloud.

The Langdale Pikes over Langdale Campsite and the Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.

A stitched panorama perched on my viewpoint ledge. I was hoping for streaming light from the right. Must get up earlier.

From the edge looking over Langdale.

Looking back to Pike of Blisco.

Pike of Blisco opposite.

As with my previous days outing, its shows that you can never write the morning off when the sun does eventually come out. What a difference the golden light makes. Hence the Golden hour. Shame it cant be guaranteed.

A series of shots exploring various compositions that draw your attention to the Langdale Pikes. Which one works best for you?

Natural and man-made elements leading you into the image.

Several takes on the elements here, compositionally I really like these shots, the fence leading your eye into the main element of the scene, the Langdale Pikes. The bush on the fell side adding a break to another natural line to the main subject.

Early signs of the Bracken changing colour underfoot.

A wider shot looking back into the scene. The light really bringing this image to life.

Wonderfully clear water in Great Langdale Beck. Heading back home.

I’m still a bit early for the full on Autumn colour breakout, hopefully I’ll get some opportunities over the next month to tick off a few more pre-visualised shots.
You can now connect with me on Facebook, where I’m encouraging discussion and commenting on my Lake District Landscape Photography. I’m aiming to update my page as soon as possible after new images are taken and sometimes whilst I’m out in the Landscape, mobile signal dependant.
