It’s been one of those days where the weather can’t make its mind up. Bright in the morning, grey and rain in the afternoon with no hope of a breakthrough in time for sunset. I was hoping to get out this evening but things were looking dull and uninspiring.

However within a minute the sky above Loughrigg was illuminated with an amazing pink glow. I headed out to see more.

Down at the bench Loughrigg was wrapped in a layer of mist.

The Langdale Pikes were silhouetted by an amazing glowing sunset.

The Mist in the valley adding atmosphere to a magnificent treat after a dull afternoon.

A little tweaking of the colours reveals a rather dramatic scene.

A wider view of the surrounding area.

I had a little walk up to the viewpoint where there is a clearer view of the Langdale Pikes. The sun has gone behind the fells now but a little mist remains.

There seemed to be much more mist around Loughrigg, perhaps from the River Brathay as it meanders through the valley.

The last of the days light reveals a subtle pink glow.

Here you can see more of my Lake District Prints from around Loughrigg and Prints of Langdale here.
Below is a short video I captured.
