After a short walk up Stockghyll in Ambleside, we were heading home when I caught a glimpse of some interesting looking cloud over Grasmere so we decided to take a look. I promised the kids it’d be brief as they were starving. Here’s what we saw.

A wider view over Grasmere. We were the only people here.

A close up of the Island on Grasmere with Allan Bank and Helm Crag behind. The light on the distant fells looks great.

As the sun set fantastic light illuminated Seat Sandal and Heron Pike beyond the Daffodil hotel.

I was being shouted at by this point, hungry kids weren’t interested in the fantastic light over Grasmere.

The last of the light over Grasmere.

Once the sun had gone behind he fells, the scene became a little more subtle in colour.

I found some emergency Kendal Mint Cake in my pack which kept the kids quiet for a few minutes while I captured these beautiful scenes over Grasmere.

Mist started to form over the far side of Grasmere.

Beautiful. Perfect conditions for Landscape Photography in the Lake District.

Very peaceful.

Worth the ear ache, I am very pleased with these images I captured over Grasmere. You can see more of my Lake District Landscapes from Grasmere here.
