The Retreat Panoramic Print by James Bell

The Retreat Panoramic Print

Warnscale Bothy is situated above Buttermere in North Western Lake District. I came across this location on a circular walk from Buttermere taking in Haystacks and the High Stile ridge. The Bothy is almost impossible to see until you are up close as the terrain is loose broken slate from the nearby Honister slate mine. I almost walked right past this place.

This panoramic shot over the Hut shows one of the finest views the Lake District has to offer in my opinion. Buttermere has to be my favourite location for looking up towards this scene and equally looking down. The view from the small window inside the Hut must be seen. You need some imagination to see past the cobwebs though.

The panoramic format works well in this scene and gives you some insight into the wider landscape. A pleasure to photograph and one of me personal favourite Lake District prints from this area.
