Recently I’ve delivered some framed Lake District Prints to the fantastic Armathwaite Hall Hotel at the Northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake so planned to stop at Bassenthwaite. Typically I see Bassenthwaite from the main road that passes along its Western Side when I’m visiting the Percy House Gallery in Cockermouth to restock with my framed Lake District prints. There is a route around the Eastern side of the Lake that passes through the village of Bassenthwaite itself. St Johns Church in the village is a fine looking building and worth a visit.

Heading south on the way back from Armathwaite Hall the late afternoon sun was positioned well to illuminate the Eastern side of the Lake.

The Northern tip of Bassenthwaite and a fine Autumn scene, great light and a Rainbow for added effect.

Dodd Wood sits below a finely shaped Dodd with Ullock Pike and Skiddaw dominating the scene. The autumn colours brought to life by the low warming afternoon sun.
