Local Woodland in Snow

Hard to believe these images are taken less than 24 hours after my previous post. Just goes to show what a huge influence the weather is on photography. It very rarely snows here being so close to the coast so a great opportunity to capture some local snow scenes.

Ambleside Snow Scenes

Today is my last day in the Lake District on what has been a great 24 hours so far. It is so good to have. change of scenery and to be fully reminded why I love this place so much. Upon waking today there was a covering of snow and more falling, before Breakfast I headed out for a quick walk around a deserted Ambleside.

Thirlmere Snow Scenes

Heading north from my last location I wanted to visit Thirlmere again, I’ve been to this exact spot many many times over the last few years and it has become one of my personal favourite places. I’ve not visited in snow so today was going to bring a new element to my collection of Thirlmere images which incidentally I am gifting two Thirlmere prints with every copy of my book Capture Lakeland for a limited time.

It is so good to be back in the Lake District. If only for an overnight stay. The air is amazingly fresh, the scenery is as always inspiring and luckily the weather is dry and I’m treated to some snow on higher ground with more forecast for later. I had no plans for this trip, just to get here and see what happens, what I mean by that is see how the light and conditions are and then decide.

I love the Langdale valley and seeing the Langdale Pikes in snow meant I headed there first and why not this is a truly beautiful location that means so much to so many.
