I spent 10 days around Ullswater early Autumn 2013 and the weather was unbelievably wet. It poured with rain every single day except one. I went into the trip with a certain amount of scenes pre visualised and planned as I always do prior to these trips. All those plans fell apart when the weather didn’t comply. However, and I often say to people in photography related discussions the skill of the photographer is to work with what they are presented with. This is one such example. It would have been too easy to stay indoors and not venture out. We only need a few seconds of light to transform the landscape and this particular shot has instantly become a personal favourite. Kirkstone Pass is a notorious stretch of road from Ullswater over towards Windermere. Seen here as a glowing ribbon across the harsh Lake District Landscape. The Rays of light illuminating the northern slopes of Middle Dodd. Prints available on the link below right.

A fantastic Autumnal Scene in Grasmere looking over to Helm Crag. The colours a much later in changing this year than in 2012. I first visited this location when the children and I were on a visit to Allan Bank, Grasmere to do the Pumpkin Trail. I revisited a few days later after taking this mobile phone shot below. I was amazed at the popularity the photograph received on my Facebook page with over 465 Likes and 71 shares along with lots of favourable comments, so i decided to revisit the location with my big camera.

It was a drab and rainy day as I walked to the location. As luck would have it as soon as I got setup a gap in the cloud enabled the sun to illuminate the scene and I captured this shot above and a few others and within 5 minutes I was walking away. As luck would have it it rained persistently for the rest of the day.

I have added this Autumnal Print of Grasmere to my print gallery.
