Buttermere Landscape Photography Day

An unexpected visit to Buttermere today and what a great one it has turned out to be. At the start of the year I hoped to visit this part of the Lake District a lot more if energy allowed and venture further afield from my local area around Ambleside and Langdale. Over the course of Autumn I visited Buttermere several times and each time was welcomed by different conditions. It would be too easy if we could simply dial in the conditions we wanted as Landscape Photographers. That would be just too easy, I suspect I’d loose interest if it really was that simple.

Whatever the conditions I have always been a big advocate for making the most of what we are presented with, it is simply a matter of changing our perspective and perceptions of what our visual mind sees beforehand. Buttermere is in my opinion the most beautiful part of the Lake District and one I never tire of visiting. Regardless of the weather I am always in awe of this beaiutlfiul place.

Today was one of those days when half of the conditions were perfect. No wind. A mirror like Buttermere providing me with double the beauty in the form of perfect reflections. All that was missing was dramatic light but in the limited time I have here today I’ll take this. It is simply a beautiful place and on days like today I am fully reminded of why I truly love this place.

You can see my collection of Lake District Landscape Prints from Buttermere here in my gallery.
