Buttermere View Panoramic Print

Buttermere View Panoramic

This weeks view is looking over Buttermere to Fleetwith Pike, Warnscale and Haystacks. Taken on 30th December the low winters sun is setting over the High Stile Ridge and illuminating the side of Fleetwith Pike. Broken Ice on the shore a reminder of how cold the day was despite the warm light adding some warming further into the scene.

The image above is a scale representation of a 300 x 900 mm print with an 80mm mount and 80mm Oak frame.

A walk around Buttermere

As regular followers of my website will have guessed by now Buttermere is one of, if not my favourite location in the lake District. It’s natural beauty is by far in excess of everything else the Lakes has to offer in my view. I’m not sure why when I think about this remotely, but every time I visit it hits you right away, I’ve concluded it’s the scale, for such a small area along the Lake you feel penned in by the fells surrounding Buttermere.

Black and White Lake District Prints

It’s not all that often I sell mono prints of the Lake District. In previous years I used to sell about 50/50 split between colour and Black and White Prints today it’s more 100/1 in favour of Colour. I was pleased to receive an order for these 3 Black and White prints over Christmas. Printing them has reminded me that Black and White images can be equally as striking as colour ones.

Buttermere Panorama

Buttermere has to be one of the most naturally beautiful parts of the Lakes, this panoramic shot over Buttermere towards Fleetwith Pike, Warnscale Botttom and Haystacks is a classic. The late winter sun setting over Haystacks adds a warming touch in contrast to the ice on the shore in the foreground. Panoramic Photography from The Lake District

Haystacks and the High Stile Ridge

The Western Lake District is one of the most naturally beautiful parts of the Lakes in my view. Its quieter and less touristy than Keswick, Ambleside and Grasmere. Buttermere and Wasdale are the main villages in these areas and great bases for several magnificent walks in this area.
