Castlerigg Stone Circle

Castlerigg Stone Circle in the northern Lake District is a collection of 38 stones approximately 30m in diameter. Inside the circle is a further 10 stones creating a rectangle. Castlerigg Stone Circle was probably built around 3,000BC. Here’s a virtual look around.

Recently I was heading towards Langdale to attempt a panoramic shot overlooking the Langdale Pikes. My previous walk up Lingmoor Fell just over a year earlier inspired me to attempt to capture Sunrise here. The shot below was the scene I was greeted with as I walked to the spot I had in mind.

Winter Wonderland

As the country is gripped by cold weather there was a wonderful opportunity to head out into the Lake District last Sunday. Deep snow and brilliant blue skies made for wonderful photo opportunities. Langdale is a favourite location of mine as its relatively easy to access from the South Lakes. However deep snow and steep untreated roads made for an interesting challenge. This video below shows the ascent up toward Blea Tarn from the Hardnott Pass road. What an experience.
